The Anti-Nuclear Industrial Complex
In conversation with Ken Braun from the Capital Research Center
Ken Braun is a researcher at the Capital Research Center who spent the last 10 years researching the Anti-Nuclear Industry in the USA. Yesterday he joined me to talk about the estimated $2.3 billion that goes into NGO Industrial Complex every year.
These group include those with links to Earth Life Africa who were awarded Rewards in San Francisco for blocking the last planned Nuclear Power Plant in South Africa by lying about the price being “1 Trillion Rand”.
NECSA never sent out the Request for Proposal, but estimates were that it was at least half of what was quoted in the media and unfortunately the courts. The Zondo commission also never found evidence of “Russian Involvement” (the latest anti-nuclear bogeyman).
Had South Africa build that power plant, then we would not have had load shedding today. Earthlife Africa should be ashame of themselves, but why would they if their founder is now involved in renewable cooperatives ? And if they are have a nice relationship with Greenpeace (a “non profit” with an almost $400million revenue per year)?
There is a lot more to this story, and keeping track of the money is almost impossible. But it is worth noting that some money comes from the CIA funding environmental groups through “the national endowment for democracy” and the history of the environmental movement going back to the original oil tycoons.
South Africa is set to send out another RFQ in the beginning of next year (as per Mantashe’s Wits Speech) and let’s hope that the public is more alert this time around. We desperately need 1 or 2 Nuclear Power Plants, to notably deal with our desalination problems.
